"General George C. Marshall: An American Leader": A Fieldtrip for Students
Dodona Manor offers a compelling environment for learning. The facility can accommodate 35 to 40 individuals, or up to 80 with a shift approach, so school groups of varying size and with diverse needs can easily enjoy an authentic educational experience that introduces them to Marshall's geopolitical accomplishments, and sheds light on his personal integrity and character.
Docents use the home"s furnishing and decorative arts as a vehicle for explaining his various roles throughout the 20th century. Elementary-level students can examine memorabilia in a hands-on "treasure chest" as a means of imagining what living in the Marshalls' home would have been like in the 1950s. Students also learn more about Marshall and his wife, Katherine, their passion for gardening and reading, and their personal life in the town of Leesburg.
